The BC Health Care Assistant (HCA) Care Activities Chart lists care activities that BC HCAs may be expected to perform as part of their duties. It also specifies care activities taught within in the HCA Program Provincial Curriculum (2023) and categorizes care activities as tasks or restricted activities.
Based on feedback from employers and educators, revisions were made to support clarity, including the addition of footnotes and changes to the colour schematic.
Alongside the Registry, the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and the Ministry of Health have played an integral role in the development and ongoing updates to this document.
The BC HCA Care Activities Chart was originally published June 27, 2024, and serves as a resource for HCAs, employers, educators, and other health system partners as well as the public and recipients of health care services.
